Willie Nile and Band -

Willie Nile, singer, songwriter, rock and roll, folk rock
Willie Nile

“Willie Nile is a great artist. If there was any justice in this world, I’d be opening up for him instead of him for me.”
- Lucinda Williams.

“Willie’s so good I can’t believe he’s not from New Jersey.”
- Little Steven.

“The impassioned voice, the sharp and soulful lyrics, the interesting shoes and large, Kramer-like hair which seems to grow thicker every year – Willie Nile brings it all into focus.”
- Graham Parker.

Rocking New York City singer / songwriter Willie Nile is currently in the midst of a creative renaissance that’s produced some of the most compelling music of his 35-year career. The tradition continues with his forthcoming album, American Ride.

Willie Nile embodies every sense of rock ’n’ roll urgency — from arms-outreached anthems to stiff upper-lipped riffs that scream, "nothing in the world matters more than this moment." The timeless qualities of melodic craft, lyrical insight, and emotional engagement have endeared Nile to listeners around the world.

Willie Nile’s fans include Bruce Springsteen, with whom he’s guested onstage on multiple occasions, and Pete Townshend, who personally requested him as the opening act on the Who’s 1982 U.S. tour. Other avowed Nile admirers include Bono, Lou Reed, Paul Simon, Ian Hunter, Graham Parker, Jim Jarmusch, Adam Duritz, Little Steven and Lucinda Williams.

Willie Nile will be joined at The Winchester Music Hall by his live band, guitarist Matt Hogan, bassist Johnny Pisano, and drummer Alex Alexander.

Tickets are $15.00. Showtime is 9pm.

Nektar -

Nektar, progressive rock, prog, band
Nektar

"If you've been lucky enough to see Nektar live, as I have multiple times, you'll know that their on-stage rendition of their timeless classics is pretty darned close to note-perfect. More than that - the band still captures that intangible expression, the sentiment and the "vibe" that made the early releases so popular as far back as 1969, and as recently as 2008."
- Duncan Glenday, Sea of Tranquility.

British Progressive rock at it's very best, Nektar's contribution over the last 40 years has quite rightly earned them their place in any 'Progressive Rock Hall of Fame.' But the band is much more than a 'Prog Legend,' the Nektar brand of innovative composition, performance and visuals is simply unique.

Nektar formed in November 1969 and is still going strong with 15 albums to their credit including 3 Gold albums and charting albums in the USA and album of the year in Europe.

Nektar's current lineup includes founding members Roye Albrighton on guitars and lead vocals, and Ron Howden on drums and vocals. The talented Klaus Henatsch on keyboards and vocals, and Peter Pichl on bass round out the 2013 lineup of the band.

In virtuoso guitarist Roye Albrighton Nektar had a charismatic front man who had shared a stage with Jimi Hendrix. Roye's trademark unique vocals and instantly recognisable guitar playing style were and still are integral trademarks of the Nektar sound. Roye appears and is an integral part of all of Nektar's original releases up to 1976.

As a musician Ron Howden is unique, as a drummer he is unmistakable. To watch him perform on his instrument is like watching a fine tuned well balanced timepiece, and Nektar's music would not be what it is today without his expert touch. Ron has always been an integral founder member of Nektar. He appears on all of Nektars albums with the exception of Man in the Moon [1980] and Prodigal Son [2001].

Tickets are $20.00. Showtime is 8pm.

Lipbone Redding -

Lipbone Redding, music, band
Lipbone Redding

"I never know exactly how to describe Lipbone, so I don't. What I can describe is how one feels during and after a Lipbone show: blissful, joyful, happy, inspired, elated, and never wanting the night to end."
- Honey Sepeda, Talent Buyer!

Lipbone Redding has traveled the world with his guitar, nightly sharing music and tales with audiences for the past 15 years.

He weaves funky rhythms, catchy original songs, brash humor, soulful singing, and inventive guitar playing with exotic and percussive vocal sounds such as throat singing, bass and beat-boxing, and his astonishingly realistic lip-tromboning. The result is an experience that is hypnotic, groovy and, for a solo artist without the aid of electronic efx, amazingly complete.

Several of Lipbone Redding's songs have become Americana and Jamband radio hits throughout the U.S. and he can be heard on NPR, Internet and Community radio stations, as well as in TV and film sound tracks.

He formed the Lipbone Orchestra and composed music for world famous choreographer Bill T. Jones. The show, featuring Lipbone Redding's unique vocal talents, toured to France, Spain and Italy. He and his fellow artists' efforts received a 2007 Obie Award for best collaboration and Toronto's Dora Mavis Moorer Award for best production.

Tickets are $12.00. Showtime is 8pm.

The Rick Ray Band, Robin Trower, Bridge of Sighs, music, band
The Rick Ray Band

"Guitarist Robin Trower's watershed sophomore solo disc remains his most stunning, representative, and consistent collection of tunes. Mixing obvious Hendrix influences with blues and psychedelia, then adding the immensely soulful vocals of James Dewar, Trower pushed the often limited boundaries of the power trio concept into refreshing new waters."
- All Music Guide.

The Rick Ray Band is Rick Schultz on tenor and soprano sax, clarinet, bass clarinet and oboe, Wally Spisak on bass and vocals, DC on lead vocals and harmonica, Paul Geltch on drums, and Rick Ray on guitars, guitar synth, keyboards, percussion and vocals.

Susan Cowsill Duo -

Susan Cowsill, The Cowsills, The Continental Drifters, singer, songwriter
Susan Cowsill

"Susan Cowsill's album Lighthouse is an earthy, often crunchy folk-pop gem."
- Rolling Stone.

"Susan Cowsill has created an understated musical masterpiece with her heartfelt album "Lighthouse."
- Country Chart.

Lighthouse, Susan Cowsill’s second solo album, once again embodies the timeless qualities of heart, soul and craft that are already known to anyone familiar with Cowsill’s solo debut Just Believe It.

Susan Cowsill first entered the pop-culture spotlight at the age of eight, as the youngest member of the ’60s musical family The Cowsills. In adulthood, as a member of the beloved alt-pop supergroup The Continental Drifters, she reemerged as a vocalist and songwriter of remarkable depth and insight.

The '80s found Susan Cowsill working with cult figure Dwight Twilley, her harmonies adding sparkle to many of Twilley's greatest tracks. Pop lovers could also spot her guesting with Redd Kross and the Smithereens. More guest appearances by Susan during this time were on two Hootie and the Blowfish records, Jules Shear, Kate Jacobs, and Giant Sand.

Susan Cowsill's gumbo sound springs from '60s pop roots with seasonings of Louisiana groove, country, and rock. As Bilboard Magazine expresses, "Cowsill...mines a child-like vulnerability, as she employs her achingly tarnished voice to a simple and moving effect."

The Susan Cowsill Duo features Susan Cowsill on vocals, guitar and Russ Broussard on drums, vocals.

Tickets are $12.00. Showtime is 9pm.

Matt Maher and Band -

Matt Maher, singer, songwriter, worship leader
Matt Maher

The front cover of Matt Maher’s latest album, All The People Said Amen, is a menagerie of old tour posters, handwritten lyrics from songwriting sessions, live and candid shots with fans, even his own wedding photos. No image is random. Each piece was placed purposefully by Maher. Every item has a story behind it and has played a significant role in Maher’s songwriting over the past seven years.

Great music hinges on compelling writing, honest delivery, a refined, unique musical identity. Great leadership hinges on openness, compassion, devotion. Singer-songwriter and worship leader Matt Maher has built his career – his life – on striving to embody those ideals.

Matt Maher the songwriter cemented his respected reputation penning songs with Chris Tomlin, Michael W. Smith, Matt Redman, Passion (“Here For You”), Audrey Assad and Jars of Clay.

The heart of Matt Maher the worship leader has shown through clearly over years spent teaching, sharing and praying all over the world, including appearances at the Papal Rally in NYC, World Youth Day in Sydney, Australia, and extensive touring over the past 5 years, with the likes of Michael W. Smith, Leeland, Phil Wickham, Jars of Clay, Third Day, Tenth Avenue North and Mercy Me, bringing him in front of more than three million people.

The Black Lillies -

The Black Lillies, Americana, country, band
The Black Lillies

“A rootsy flair, mixing folk, honky-tonk country and gospel into a winsome hybrid traditional enough to appeal to an Opry crowd, and expansive enough to ensnare a broader audience.”
- The Wall Street Journal.

The Black Lillies have created their own unique brand of country, roots, rock and blues via Appalachia.

Recently featured in Vanity Fair magazine, and a 2013 NPR "SXSW pick of the day," this outstanding band has performed at this year's Merlefest, the Rochester International Jazz Festival and more.

Eschewing record labels, The Black Lillies have still managed to put a track, Same Mistakes, from their record, 100 Miles of Wreckage, in Country Music Television’s top 12 requested videos for four months. (Its predecessor, Two Hearts Down, was a top-requested video on CMT for three months.)

They’ve been featured on numerous television specials and conquered festivals as widespread as Bonnaroo, Pickathon, and CMA Fan Fair. Despite trafficking in a richer, more authentic brand of country and Americana than what gets played on mainstream country radio, The Black Lillies have still been invited to perform at the Grand Ole Opry more than a dozen times – a record for an independent act.

The Black Lillies front man Cruz Contreras and his bandmates – harmony vocalist Trisha Gene Brady, multi-instrumentalist Tom Pryor, bass player Robert Richards and drummer Jamie Cook – tour non-stop, and you'll leave their show at The Winchester Music Hall feeling like you've witnessed an old-fashioned Southern tent revival.

Tickets are $12.00. Showtime is 9pm.

Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials -

Lil Ed Williams, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials, band, blues, Chicago
Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials

"A bazooka assault of foot-stompin' blues and slow-burnin' knee-bucklers."
- Chicago Sun-Times.

"Full of fire, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials hit the floor running and accelerate from there. High-octane, expressive, fiercely articulated, harrowing intensity, raucous slide."
- Living Blues.

From working at Chicago's Red Carpet Car Wash to appearing on national television, from gigging at the smallest ghetto blues bars to performing on the biggest international concert stages, master bluesman Lil' Ed Williams has come a long way.

Mixing smoking slide guitar boogies and raw-boned Chicago shuffles with the deepest slow-burners, Lil' Ed and his blistering Blues Imperials - bassist James "Pookie" Young, guitarist Mike Garrett and drummer Kelly Littleton - deliver the blues, from gloriously riotous and rollicking to intensely emotional and moving.

Not since the heyday of Hound Dog Taylor & The HouseRockers has a blues band made such a consistently joyful noise. Currently celebrating 24 rip-roaring years together, Lil' Ed & The Blues Imperials ply their musical talents with skills that have been honed to a razor's edge.

As much a family as a band, Lil' Ed, Pookie, Mike and Kelly have outlasted sports stars and presidents, musical fads and fashion trends. And together, they continue to make blues history with each and every performance and new recording.

The band's wildly energetic and seriously soulful new CD Jump Start is jam-packed with Lil' Ed's incendiary slide playing and rough, passionate singing, as the ragged-but-right Blues Imperials cook like mad alongside him.

Tickets are $15.00. Showtime is 8pm.

Smokin Joe Kubek, Bnois King, blues, guitar, Texas blues
Smokin' Joe Kubek and Bnois King

"Powerful, hard-nosed, authentic roadhouse blues. Punchy Texas shuffles, fierce boogies, tough slow blues and mighty fine roots rock."
- Living Blues.

"Kubek is one of the fiercest electric guitarists currently plugged-in. Hard-hitting original Texas blues-rock."
- Billboard Magazine.

"King's jazzy guitar work is the perfect foil to Kubek's more incendiary style. They are simply the best guitar tandem on the scene today."
- Blues Revue.

For almost 20 years, the Texas based, red-hot, rockin' blues of Smokin' Joe Kubek and Bnois King has been thrilling music fans all around the world.  Kubek's raucous roadhouse fretwork is expertly complimented by the equally fiery guitar and soulful vocals of Bnois King.

Smokin' Joe Kubek has the technique and the chops to burn up any stage, and Bnois King's jazz-based guitar and vocals perfectly complement Kubek's headier rock-inspired guitar work.

Gigging with legendary musicians like Stevie Ray Vaughan, Albert King, Freddie King and B.B. King (among so many others), Kubek learned first-hand how to live and play the blues and how to lead a band.

The Nikki Hill Band -

Nikki Hill, band, rocknroll, blues, roots
Nikki Hill

"The fast-rising, hard-charging, 20-something, North Carolina born-and-bred singer Nikki Hill has more than earned her evocative "Southern Fireball" moniker."
- LA Weekly.

Nikki Hill and her band are climbing to the top of the roots music scene step by step and leaving jaws on the floor along the way. They take all the flavors of American roots music, prompting hints of vintage soul, blues, and R&B, to deliver a sound that reminds us all why we love rock and roll.

Nikki Hill draws on vintage female rhythm and blues influences such as LaVern Baker, Etta James and Ruth Brown, as well as some of her favorite male singers Otis Redding and Solomon Burke, without being stuck or pigeonholed as a ‘retro’ artist. Her tough vocal style fits with contemporary sensibilities and evokes all the great blues shouters of previous decades.

Currently touring behind her 2013 album release, Here's Nikki Hill, Nikki’s gritty and raw voice with dynamics that hint of a long-standing career, driving rhythm guitar, and a tight rhythm section take what we music lovers admire about our roots legends, and then push them to the next level.

Peter Karp and Sue Foley -

Peter Karp, Sue Foley, band, americana, blues
Peter Karp and Sue Foley w/ their band

"Karp and Foley serve the the music and never showboat. They know the song is the thing...In a world that makes it hard to keep your spirits high, Karp and Foley appear to be telling everyone to keep their chin up."
- Vintage Guitar Magazine.

On the heels of Blind Pig recording artists Peter Karp and Sue Foley's 2010 critically acclaimed and artistically daring collaboration "He Said - She Said" comes their next exciting CD: "Beyond The Crossroads." A high voltage, plank spankin', piano boogyin', slide guitar stompin' blues-rockin' CD that showcases 12 brilliantly crafted and unique original compositions that have become the trademark of these two noted singer-songwriter guitarists.

The gifted singer-songwriter, guitarist, pianist and American troubadour Peter Karp is a master songsmith with an art for spinning true-to-life emotions, humor, and candor. Critics compare his songwriting to John Hiatt and John Prine. Peter Karp personifies the amorphous Americana sound, seamlessly blending blues and roots music with a high sense of entertainment.

Juno award winner Sue Foley is considered to be one of the finest blues and roots artists working today. After recording for the legendary blues label, Antone's Records, she took to the road with her paisley Telecaster and honed her craft, working and sharing the stage with such artists as BB King, Buddy Guy, Lucinda Williams and Tom Petty.

Peter Karp and Sue Foley will be performing with their band for this show at The Winchester Music Hall.

Chad & Jeremy -

Chad & Jeremy, duo, psych, folk, British Invasion
Chad & Jeremy

The Chad & Jeremy story starts in 1963. One of the first groups to make it big in America during the 'British Invasion', they then pushed the envelope of psych-folk-rock with cult classic albums such as "Of Cabbages and Kings" and "The Ark."

Hit songs like Yesterday's Gone, A Summer Song, Willow Weep For Me, solidified Chad & Jeremy as a part of the British Invasion.

The duo made several television guest appearances. In back-to-back sitcom appearances, they first played fictional singing duo "The Redcoats" (Fred and Ernie) on sitcom Dick Van Dyke Show that satirized Beatlemania. Chad & Jeremy appeared on The Patty Duke Show as unknown British singing duo Nigel & Patrick.

The duo appeared as themselves in the December 1966 episodes The Cat's Meow and The Bat's Kow Tow of the television series Batman, in which the guest villain was Julie Newmar as Catwoman. During the latter episode, they sang "Distant Shores" and "Teenage Failure."

Chad & Jeremy spent much of the next thirty years in an on-again off-again musical relationship, but now they are back with a vengeance, touring various parts of the world to the delight of their fans.

John Denver Tribute
Featuring look-alike Ted Vigil and longtime
John Denver guitarist Steve Weisberg -

In just a very short time Ted Vigil has developed his John Denver tribute into a national act. He performs all over the country at casinos, show rooms, night clubs, fairs and festivals. Last year Ted was at the John Denver Festival, The CMA Fan Fair Festival in Nashville, the Travelin' Inc Country Cruise with Darryl Worley & Storme Warren among many other venues.

The most heard comments after the show are, "I can't believe how much he looks and sounds like John Denver, it really took us back!"

Steve Weisberg's studio work with John Denver includes John Denver's Greatest Hits, Volume 1, Back Home Again, Evening With John Denver, Rocky Mountain Christmas, Windsong, Spirit, and Greatest Hits Volume 2.  And John Denver even included a few of Steve's songs on his albums.

Caravan of Thieves

Driving gypsy jazz rhythms, acoustic guitars, upright bass and violin lay the foundation for mesmerizing vocal harmonies and fantastic stories.

The Caravan of Thieves show is theatrical and humorous. It's musical and intense. It entertains, dazzles and defies classification while welcoming the spectator to join the band throughout the performance in momentary fits of claps, snaps and sing-alongs.

If Django Reinhardt, the cast of Stomp and the Beatles all had a party at Tim Burton's house, Caravan of Thieves would be the band they hired.

Bryan Lee "Braille Blues Daddy"
and The Blues Power Band -

Bryan Lee, blues, guitarist, The Blues Power Band
Bryan Lee

"I went home and cried." That was blues legend Bryan Lee's reaction upon being told by Muddy Waters, "Bryan, stay with this. One day you're going to be a living legend." Now, more than a quarter-century later, Bryan Lee is one of the most recognizable blues players to call New Orleans home.

For Bryan Lee, the blues has been a fickle lover. Born with a skin color not common amongst bluesmen and living without eyesight since the age of eight, the music that he loved didn't always have a place for him.

"I'm a blind person, I don't see any color. I got drawn to this music by the feeling, not by the color of somebody's skin," said Bryan Lee.

With the respect of peers like Buddy Guy (who will appear on Lee's next album) and last year's nomination for a Blues Award (for Katrina Was Her Name), Lee is not content to rest on his laurels. Instead of seeing his visual impairment as a handicap, Bryan Lee feels it has helped him as a player of the blues.

"I can focus deeper. I don't have any physical distractions. That's the grace of God. Yes, I don't have eyesight, but the good Lord gave me the gift of music and I run into a lot of people that are emotionally blind. Eyesight or insight, its kind of an easy choice to make."

Bryan Lee will be joined onstage by The Blues Power Band featuring guitarist Brent Johnson, bassist David Hyde, and drummer John Perkins.

Tickets are $15.00. Showtime is 9pm.

Trace Bundy -

Trace Bundy, acoustic, guitar
Trace Bundy

Trace Bundy must be seen, not just heard. His music is poetry in motion, using harmonics, looping, multiple capos, and his unique banter and stage presence to deliver an unforgettable live concert experience.

Listening to his intricate arrangements is one thing, but seeing the fan-dubbed "Acoustic Ninja" play live confounds even the most accomplished music lovers as to how one person can do all that with just two hands and ten fingers.

Trace Bundy was named "Most Promising New Talent" of 2008 by Acoustic Guitar Magazine, as well as winning third place in the magazine's "Best Fingerstyle Guitarist" category the same year.

Trace Bundy has performed at Colorado's Red Rocks Amphitheatre in front of a crowd of over 7,000 people, as part of The World's Largest Music Lesson.

Over the past couple of years, Trace Bundy has shared the stage with Brandi Carlile, Olivia Newton-John, Judy Collins, Nitty Gritty Dirt Band, Neko Case, Phil Keaggy, David Wilcox, David Knopfler (Dire Straits), Bill Nershi (String Cheese), Laurence Juber (Paul McCartney & Wings), Chris Hillman (the Byrds), Stanley Jordan, and MOFRO, among others.
